Fleeing to Egypt for Safety
In today’s lesson of the 25 Days of Advent Bible Study Series, we discovered the foretelling of the Messiah as fleeing to Egypt for safety (Hosea 11:1).
This is later fulfilled in the New Testament.
Here’s what we know in this Scripture:
The Lord sent an angel to tell Joseph to flee to Egypt to avoid the infant massacre happening in his homeland. This decree came down from Herrod because of his fear of replacement by the “new king” as told to him by the wise men.
Egypt became a place of refuge for Jesus and his family during this time.
Let’s be thankful for our places of refuge during periods of trial and persecution. For without them our demise could be near.
25 Days of Advent Prayer – Day 13
Pray this with me for our 25 Days of Advent Prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank you for your fulfillment of Hosea 11:1.
Jesus the Messiah was prophesied about in this Scripture as fleeing to Egypt.
God, thank You for ministering angels, the discernment of the wise men, and Jesus’ obedient parents, who heeded Your voice and fled to Egypt for safety and protection.
Lord, thank You for safe places and hiding places where we may retreat in times of distress and persecution.
May our hearts keep the focus on Christ’s birth, purpose, and fulfillment during this Holy Season.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
