25 Days of Advent Daily Scripture Reading – Day 14
Our daily Scripture reading for the 25 Days of Advent Bible Study Series is Isaiah 2:1-4 and Micah 4:1-8:
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
3 and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.
(Isaiah 2:14)It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and it shall be lifted up above the hills;
and peoples shall flow to it,
2 and many nations shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
3 He shall judge between many peoples,
and shall decide disputes for strong nations far away;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore;
4 but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree,
and no one shall make them afraid,
for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.
5 For all the peoples walk
each in the name of its god,
but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God
forever and ever.6 In that day, declares the Lord,
I will assemble the lame
and gather those who have been driven away
and those whom I have afflicted;
7 and the lame I will make the remnant,
and those who were cast off, a strong nation;
and the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion
from this time forth and forevermore.8 And you, O tower of the flock,
hill of the daughter of Zion,
to you shall it come,
the former dominion shall come,
kingship for the daughter of Jerusalem.(Micah 4:1-8)

25 Days of Advent Reflections & Commentary – Day 14
Established God’s Eternal Kingdom
In today’s lesson of the 25 Days of Advent Bible Study Series, we discovered the foretelling of the Messiah as being the one who established God’s eternal Kingdom (Isaiah 2:1-4, Micah 4:1-8).
This is later fulfilled in the New Testament.
Here’s what we know in this Scripture:
In both passages of Scripture, the subtitle is “The Mountain of the Lord” – this is poignant!
The Mountain of the Lord is further explained in great detail in both passages. We see the full beauty of God’s kingdom on display!
- It is high and lifted up!
- It is where people come to learn of the Lord
- It is where God will judge
- It is a place of peace
- It is a place where each person is secure in their calling and purpose
Jesus came to establish God’s eternal Kingdom here on earth. This way we could walk confidently, boldly, and assured of our rightful place in the Lord.
25 Days of Advent Prayer – Day 14
Pray this with me for our 25 Days of Advent Prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank you for your fulfillment of Isaiah 2:1-4, Micah 4:18.
Jesus the Messiah was prophesied about in this Scripture as being the one who established the eternal Kingdom.
Lord, your Kingdom is eternal and is established in the earth through Jesus Christ and passed down to your children.
May your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
May our hearts keep the focus on Christ’s birth, purpose, and fulfillment during this Holy Season.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
