I believe God has BIG plans for your life! He’s given you a calling and purpose to fulfill in the earth. I don’t just mean some old generic plan, but a SPECIFIC plan

Just. For. You!

With this plan comes a responsibility to steward it and to actually be intentional about it.

Your calling and purpose aren’t going to just happen, you’ll have to put in some work, be diligent and faithful, and then watch how God weaves it all together!

If you’re unsure about your calling and purpose in life, I would HIGHLY recommend you start with your calling and purpose as a woman.

One my favorite books on this very topic (outside of my favorite bible) is Myles Munroe’s book – Understanding the Purpose and Power of a Woman.

It literally helps you understand your role, as God has designed you. He takes the time to compare society’s viewpoint vs. God’s viewpoint to help women discover who they are in Christ.

This book is an EXCELLENT place to start!

It’s amazing what happens when we’re intentional about something in our lives.

Doors fling wide open.
Favor abounds.
Living life like it’s golden.
Deeply fulfilled in our daily walk.

This should be the norm, but sadly for many women it isn’t.

Here’s why I believe this to be the case…

. . . there’s a lack of intentional pursuit of their calling and purpose. 

 

It’s easy to say you have a calling and purpose on your life. It’s another thing to be intentional about your calling and purpose.

Let’s look at 5 ways you can be intentional about what it is God has purposed and called you to do. (As a woman in business, this is muy importante!)

1. Write It Down

Writing down your calling and purpose is a powerful stance. There’s something powerful that occurs when you actually see, in written words, what it is God has called you to do. You are almost forming a contract with yourself when you write it down.

Habakkuk 2:2

Then the Lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.

They say seeing is believing.
In this passage of scripture we find this to be true.

Here’s a little bible history for you…

…the meaning of – “that he may run who reads it” – is interpreted as, the prophecy is to be inscribed plainly and legibly, so that the reader may “run his eye” quickly through it. In other words, so it can be read easily, plainly, and without distraction.

Why would that be important?

In those days, when the prophets were commanded to write down the Words of God, it meant it was significant and important, therefore, it needed to be read easily, plainly, and without distraction.

When you write down your calling and purpose, you are putting significance and importance on God’s plans for your life. You are coming into agreement with God about who he says you are and what role he wants you to have in the Body of Christ.

I believe this simple act of writing down your calling and purpose is a step of faith. (Not to mention you are getting your brain, your soul, and your spirit-man all stirred up!)

Here’s the fun part!

When you write down your calling and purpose, you may also find God starts revealing to you His plans for fulfilling it. He’ll show you next steps He may want you to take, place in your heart future hopes and dreams, and even reveal glimpses of the bigger parts of His plan for you and your family.

Grab your favorite journal (pick one of these) + a fancy TUL pen (love, love, love), and start writing! Be as detailed as you can!

2. Speak It Aloud

Words have POWER!

We can speak life or death over people, situations, and yes, even your calling and purpose.

Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

So after you’ve written down the details of your calling and purpose, start speaking it over your life. Just like in the above passage of scripture, our tongues can speak life or death – and we’ll eat the fruit of it.

(No, I don’t believe that just by merely speaking positively about your calling and purpose, it will suddenly happen. I DO believe you can change the atmosphere around your life and activate your faith to what God has called you to, with your words.)

You can make it part of your daily devotional and simply reading aloud the call and purpose God has given you.

Talk about activating faith! When your brain, soul, and spirit hear those words, they get all stirred up and excited! You are essentially breathing life into yourself when you do speak your calling and purpose aloud

Be bold and authoritative when you do so! #speaklife

3. Set Goals

It’s not enough to just write it down and speak it aloud. You’re going to have to set goals to see your calling and purpose come to life.

Proverbs 21:5

The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty,
But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.

Did you just read that? “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty.” You HAVE to be intentional about making plans, if you want to have plenty. By ‘plenty’ I mean walking in the fullness and abundance of what God has called you to do!

We make plans for our week.
We make plans for our weekend.
We make plans for birthdays, anniversaries, and vacations.

We also need to make plans for what God has called us to do. This is being intentional about your calling and purpose.

4. Pursue It

Plans are fine. However a plan means nothing without corresponding action. You’ve got to do something and move forward in the direction of your calling and purpose.

James 2:26

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

So what does your “works” need to look like?

Let’s say God has called you to be a greatly anointed pianist, yet you never take a piano class or even sit down to learn how to play the scales. How exactly will that work out for you? (Not too well, right?)

Don’t be one of those people who say they believe God has called them to do something, yet they never get up and get to work on their calling.

Yes, God is sovereign.
Yes, God will have His way.

And YES, we are responsible for giving God our best and becoming our best, so we can be fully used, by Him. It just makes the journey sweeter.

5. Pray Over It

As you are writing it down, speaking it over your life, making plans, and working that plan, it’s important that you are praying every step of the way.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Praying about your calling and purpose is so important. Prayer is simply a conversation with God. It’s talking to Him. (That’s it.)

When you talk to God about what he’s called and purposed you to do, you can get answers to your next steps, get understanding about how he’s designed you, and become more connected to the One who’s designed you.

Prayer is the glue that allows you to be intentional about your calling and purpose.

Wrapping It Up!

God has designed all of us uniquely and specifically. There’s so much God has created you to do and wants to fulfill in the earth through you! It’s up to you to be intentional about your calling and purpose.

It’s easy as 1, 2, 3. . . (4, 5)!

1. Write it down.

3. Set goals.
4. Pursue it.
5. Pray over it.
