25 Days of Advent Daily Scripture Reading – Day 12
Our daily Scripture reading for the 25 Days of Advent Bible Study Series is Jeremiah 31:15
Thus says the Lord:
“A voice is heard in Ramah,
lamentation and bitter weeping.
Rachel is weeping for her children;
she refuses to be comforted for her children,
because they are no more.”

Target of Infant Massacre
In today’s lesson of the 25 Days of Advent Bible Study Series, we discovered the foretelling of the Messiah as being the target of infant massacre (Jeremiah 31:15).
This is later fulfilled in the New Testament.
Here’s what we know in this Scripture:
Herod was envious and felt his throne was threatened at the thought of a “new king,” when the wise men did not return after visiting Jesus.
So, he made a decree that all infant boys aged two and under were to be killed.
Thankfully, an angel appeared to Joseph, warning him and instructing him to take refuge in Egypt for a period of time.
Jesus’ life was spared so that we could have access to eternal life! Let’s celebrate that even when evil intentions towards us present themselves, God uses that for our good and to fulfill His plans and purposes.
25 Days of Advent Prayer – Day 12
Pray this with me for our 25 Days of Advent Prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank you for your fulfillment of Jeremiah 31:15.
Jesus the Messiah was prophesied about in this Scripture as being the target of an infant boy massacre.
Even though the evil intentions of Herod sought to take the life of Christ, He was spared so that countless more could have access to eternal life.
That’s a gift I will not take for granted.
May our hearts keep the focus on Christ’s birth, purpose, and fulfillment during this Holy Season.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
