25 Days of Advent Reflections & Commentary – Day 16
Preceded By a Forerunner
In today’s lesson of the 25 Days of Advent Bible Study Series, we discovered the foretelling of the Messiah as being preceded by a forerunner (Malachi 3:1):
This is later fulfilled in the New Testament.
Here’s what we know in this Scripture:
Jesus was preceded by John the Baptist who began his ministry of baptizing people preparing the way for salvation.
John the Baptist was the forerunner of Jesus. Without him, many hearts would not have been ready for the person and ministry of Christ.
Though John the Baptist’s life was cut short and at times he is overshadowed in the New Testament, his impact and role in the plans and purposes of God are significant.
Celebrate the lives of the forerunners! They help to pave the way for more greatness to happen and are significant in the greater masterplan of the Lord.
25 Days of Advent Prayer – Day 16
Pray this with me for our 25 Days of Advent Prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank you for your fulfillment of Malachi 3:1.
Jesus the Messiah was prophesied about in this Scripture as being preceded by a Forerunner.
Lord thank you for those who go before us to blaze trails, be forerunners, and prepare the way for us to walk. Without them, what You’ve called us to do would be more challenging.
Even though they may not get their due recognition, their contributions to Your overall divine master plan are priceless!
May our hearts keep the focus on Christ’s birth, purpose, and fulfillment during this Holy Season.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
